Het was in 1951, ter gelegenheid van de 40ste verjaardag van de stichting van Baden-Powell Scouting in België en de 25ste verjaardag van de stichting van de Vereniging van oud-scouts Baden-Powell in België, dat een kenteken werd ontworpen voor de verdienste van de Scouts welke « een getuigenis van erkentelijkheid betekent voor hen die de pioniers van Scouting in België waren en ten opzichte van hun opvolgers die de fakkel hebben overgedragen. »
Op 21 maart 2010 sluiten de nieuwe Leden van de Kleine Raad een overeenkomst met de VZW « Société Royale ». De Oud-Scouts Baden Powell van België vertrouwen hun het Beheer van de Orde toe.
In 2011 werden nieuwe statuten gepubliceerd met als doel « Dat de Orde een honorifieke titel van erkentelijkheid zou toekennen aan diegene, oud verdienstelijke scouts die deel uitmaakte van een erkende Scouts of Gidsen beweging. »
Op 3 juni 2012 in Courrière (Namen ) ging de Orde over naar de 30ste Promotie « Alphonse Pâques » . Een twintigtal nieuwe leden werden beloond en verschillende ere-tekens tot graad van Commandeur werden postuum toegekend.
In 1951, during the celebrations of the 40th anniversary of the BP Scouting founding in Belgium and the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Association of Former BP Scouts in Belgium, a Scout Merit badge was created “as a testimony of gratitude to those who were the pioneers of Scouting in Belgium and to those who followed them and took up the torch.”
21 March 2010 the new members of the Small Council of the Scout Order of Merit concluded an agreement with the Non profit association Royal Society Former Baden-Powell Scouts of Belgium / Alumni. This agreement entrusts the management of the Small Council on the Order.
In 2011 new statutes are approved that define the Association: “The Order gives an honorary degree of recognition – based on merit criteria- to those who were part of a Scout or Guide recognized Association »
June 3, 2012, In the Scouts castel of Courrière (Namur), the Council of the Scout Order of Merit conducts its 30th Promotion “Alphonse Pâques.” Twenty recipients are honored and several awards the rank of Commander posthumously.
